ETHSafari 2025 — Your NFC Bracelet & SAFARI Tokens Guide

Welcome to ETHSafari in Kilifi. This quick guide shows how to use your NFC bracelet for cashless payments, how to get more SAFARI tokens, and how to manage your wallet.

Your NFC bracelet at a glance

  • Contactless payments on-site: tap your bracelet at participating vendors.
  • Runs on the Celo blockchain for fast, low-cost transactions.
  • Preloaded balance: each bracelet wallet comes topped up with a set amount of SAFARI tokens.
  • Ready to transact: gas has been prepaid so your first transactions just work.
  • Human-readable name: each wallet has an ENS name for easy sharing and sending.

Paying with your bracelet

  1. Visit a vendor stall or participating booth.
  2. The vendor enters the amount due.
  3. Tap your bracelet on the reader to approve the payment.
  4. You and the vendor will see a quick confirmation on-chain.

That’s it, just a tap.

Get more SAFARI tokens

You have two easy options if you need additional SAFARI:

Option A: Swap cKES or cUSD to SAFARI (self-serve)

  • Open the SAFARI pool: https://sarafu.network/pools/0x73433D6EB72A67a64348bAB2cDA3a16a0F75c8cf
  • Connect your wallet (e.g. Valora,Rabby, Metamask etc.).
  • Choose the token you’re swapping from (cKES or cUSD) and select SAFARI as the token to receive.
  • Confirm the swap (3 pop ups), and wait a few seconds for finalization on Celo.

Need cKES or cUSD first? You can on-ramp using popular options like Valora, MiniPay, or Swypt and then swap in the pool above.

Option B: Buy SAFARI on-site

  • Visit participating booths to acquire SAFARI using cash or other available payment methods.
  • Staff can help you top up directly to your bracelet wallet.

Access your wallet directly (send to friends, check balance, history)

Note: Requires an NFC enabled smartphone.

You can use the wallet behind your bracelet to view your balance and transfer tokens to friends.

  1. Open your unique wallet link (scan the QR on your bracelet card or use the link provided by the event).
  2. Click “Sign in” on the page that loads.
  3. You’ll see your wallet interface with:
    • Current SAFARI balance and recent activity
    • Send/Receive actions (use an address, ENS name, or scan your friend’s NFC Tag)

Monitoring your tag blockchain activity

  • Tap and open your wallet on sarafu.network on your own smartphone (NFC required) to view balance and recent transactions.
  • Check on-chain via explorers: Celoscan (https://celoscan.io) or Blockscout (https://explorer.celo.org). If you only know your ENS name, resolve it to a blockchain address at https://app.ens.domains and paste that address into the explorer.

Telegram alerts for your wallet

  • Visit https://web3alert.io/ and log in with Telegram.
  • Click "Add an alert".
  • Chain: select Celo.
  • Template: choose Address.
  • Address: set your NFC Tag wallet address (copy from your wallet or explorer).
  • Select ERC20.
  • Save alert to start receiving Telegram notifications.
